  • Sandra Lee Chandler

    Instagram: Sandraleedesign

With over 35 years of teaching experience and multiple accolades as a textile artist under my belt, including serving as a Bernina Ambassador, Aurifil Color Builder Designer, and appearing on The Quilt Show and Quilting Arts TV, I’ve learned the secret to happiness—there is no pre-written pattern to life! This realization, in conjunction with my strong passion for fiber art and teaching, propelled me to create Sandra Lee Design, a creative space where makers can gather to experiment, collaborate, and inspire one another to push their creative boundaries.

There is so much more to art than just the end product. Rather than focus on replicating patterns and perfecting a technique, I find fulfillment in teaching others to enjoy the process and discover their sense of purpose along the way. The journey of self-discovery can empower us to not only break free from societal molds, but it can also help us create our own life patterns and express our innermost selves.

  • Katherine Maldonado

    Instagram: Sewyourbag

Katherine Maldonado is an accomplished artisan who has been passionately sewing bags for the past seven years. With a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, Katherine has honed her skills to create exquisite bags that marry functionality and style.

Her journey in the world of sewing began as a hobby, but quickly turned into a lifelong passion. Inspired by her love for fashion and design, Katherine dedicated countless hours to perfecting her craft, experimenting with different fabrics, patterns, and techniques. One of the key aspects that helped her improve her skills and techniques was her involvement in pattern testing.

Pattern testing became an integral part of Katherine's growth as a bag maker. By participating in pattern tests for various designers, she gained valuable insights into the intricacies of bag construction and learned innovative methods to enhance her craftsmanship. Through collaborating with designers and providing feedback on pattern instructions and construction techniques, Katherine also expanded her own knowledge and expertise. This process not only helped her refine her sewing skills but also exposed her to new approaches and creative solutions.

In 2021, inspired by her own journey and the knowledge she had acquired over the years, Katherine Maldonado made a pivotal decision to start Sew Your Bag LLC. This initiative was born out of her desire to share her bag-making skills and techniques with both new and experienced bag makers alike.
